HOW ANGEL CABRERA'S SWING CAN HELP YOU...
What we can learn from analysing the swing of 2009 Masters Champion, Angel Cabrera.

1 Although Cabrera is a big, strong man, his prodigious distance comes courtesy of a huge shoulder turn and a smooth tempo, something that all golfers should try to emulate. Although his left shoulder and feet are set slightly open, Cabrera's swing is based on technique and width.
2 See how wide Cabrera's hands and arms have taken the club. He achieves this by keeping his lower body still while the upper body starts its movement. This 'loads the right side'. Many golfers are too narrow on their backswing, creating no tension between the upper and lower body.
3 Cabrera's flexibility creates a powerful coil between upper and lower body. Look at his shoulder turn - it provides strength and accuracy. You should spend a few minutes every day working on your flexibility. See the feature on flexibility for some tips on what you should be doing...
4 Here Cabrera shows a textbook position, with the butt end of the club pointing directly at the ball, meaning that his swing is perfect on plane and on line. His feet are both still on the ground, providing a balanced platform from which to launch.

Mark Says:
“For correct posture and good angles at address, stand with your feet slightly open, about shoulder width apart . Flex your knees slightly, stick your rear-end out, and keep your lower back straight. Remember to keep your chin up.”
Mark Says:
“This is a checkpoint position. The club should be parallel to the ground, parallel to the target line, with the clubface perpendicular to the ground, and toe up. Learn this position with your Pro, then you can always check yourself.”
Mark Says:
“For a strong follow-through, swing right through to a comfortable ‘photo finish’. Imagine someone is taking your photo at the end of the swing and then always get into that finishing position.”
